Promoting your Products with Videos

Consumers are being faced with more choices each and every day, which in turn makes it increasingly difficult for you when competing for their attention. Once a customer finally does find you, your job is to then somehow convince them that your product is just what they were looking for so that you can finally close on the sale.
In the past, it used to be enough to simply include a description along with a few images of your product in order to properly showcase it to your visitor. Today, however, you may need to do more and one such way is to also include a video. Luckily, it’s not as hard as you may think, and as an added bonus, videos have been known to greatly increase your overall ranking within search results.
Your first step is to find a decent video camera. Chances are, you won’t need anything too fancy, and in many cases you can even use the camera that comes equipped on your phone or tablet. The newer types of these devices will typically record in HD and will be perfect for uploading onto YouTube - which is an excellent place to store them. You can also use a camcorder for even better quality or if you require the use of a tripod.
Next up, you’ll need to make a recording. There are several different options and strategies for this depending upon the type of product you are trying to sell. If have artwork, you may want a short clip that shows you while you were creating it. If you have clothing or jewelry, create a short video of a model wearing it so that your customer can see how it looks. You can even place the item on a lazy susan and then slowly rotate it for a 360 view. These are just a few of the countless ways that you’ll eventually think of.
Now that you have your video, you’ll need to find a place to store it. As mentioned above, YouTube is a great option for a number of reasons. First, it’s free and easy to use. Second, it’s an incredibly popular destination for web surfers, who could potentially turn into future customers. Finally, it’s not only possible, but easy to embed a YouTube viewer right into your product page so your customers never leave your store to see it.
All of this might sound like hard work and very time consuming, however with a little practice and patience, you will eventually find yourself in a rhythm. Once there, creating videos will become second nature.
